Yuri Tsivian's comment:
This is another (after A Dog's Life and The Kid) laugh frequency count for a Chaplin movie. It was shown to a class of appr. 35 graduate and undegraduate students taking my International Film History, Part 2. I showed a recently released British DVD using a viewing hall and a big screen.

ATTENTION: instead of clicking on cuts I clicked on audible sighns of the audience reaction. I used gradations "chuckles" to "roar" -- but these are more indications of intensity that exact terms to describe what I heard. The trendline here refers to the frequency of laughs, the color code to their intensity.

There may be one mistake: the ending is touching, not funny, but as I heard one chuckle i registered it. Later I thought it could have been a sob.

The last (unnamed) click was done on the "end" title.
