ATTENTION: THIS IS NOT A SHOT-BY-SHOT COUNT OF THE KIND WE NORMALLY SUBMIT. I HIT ONE OF THE FOUR KEYS TO REGISTER THE AUDIENCE'S REACTION TO CHAPLIN'S FILM.

The audience composition: between 17 and 20 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in my History of International Cinema (Silent) class. A few of them may have been familiar with the film (this is a repeat screening this week). The copy shown was the David Shepard Roy DVD mastered at what I assume was 20 fps.

The credits and the end title were not counted. I should have thought to program one key for the “end

Turn height to 750, trendline to 6 and color code on to see that the laughter graph in similar to the one registered fot A Dog's Life.
This seem to conform the somewhat bald observation on the physiology of laughter I posted in the comment under that film.
That laughing is less frequent and less intense here is explained by the fact that this film has room for tears. I need to think how to register those.
