Matt Hauske's comment:
This scene starts about 31 minutes into the film. It is actually the second half of the scene in which the son, Ryosuke, takes his mother, Otsune, to see his former teacher, Okubo. The two halves of the scene are separated by a set false transitional shots, which Bordwell discusses in his Ozu book on page 272. I want to compare it with the 'imaginary feast' scene in Inn in Tokyo.
