Medicine for Melancholy is Barry Jenkins' first feature film. He is based in San Francisco and takes us on a tour of this landscape through the eyes of two young African Americans who meet after a one night stand. The movie is as much about race as it is gentrification in SF; it has no distributor, but has toured the festival circuit, including a stop at the San Francisco Int'l Film Festival.
The shot count is a bit erroneous around 1:12, when my DVD player on the computer overheated and crashed; I reloaded the movie as close to the timer mark as possible, but a few shots may have gone uncounted, or may have been counted twice (but this is only for about a one minute period).
